About Bird
I don’t think I have enough space to describe to you all who I really am. I come from a loving family and I grew up in what some people call “The Ghetto”. I currently live in “The Ghetto”. While some frown upon us, I embrace us. I look forward to the day that my people can stand united as one, and I am dedicated to all things productive that will get us there. I am a active body in Youth Basketball at the Crenshaw YMCA and Youth Football with the OCJAAF Inglewood Jets. I am a member of the Trevor Ariza BreathEasy Foundation and work with our Veterans that are part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom that are returning home.
I’m old enough to stay out of the streets but young enough to keep up with them. That’s where my advantage comes in. I’m a testimony to someone; I’m someones lesson. Ive been through a lot and I’ve seen more than enough. There is no reason for our youth to make the same mistakes we did. I want you to be as upset as I am. I believe if we pay attention to whats going on we will be tired of our situation and it will encourage us to hit the streets of our community.
Its time to be dedicated to our youth. Don’t mislead a child. I want you to pay it forward. I want you to disappoint the people who only expected you to fail, as many did me. I’m not the kid they saw 5, 10 or even 15 years ago, nor will I be the same person 5, 10 or 15 years from now. There are many people upset that I surpassed their expectations. Regardless of their opinions I expected much more of myself than anyone ever could. Everyone lives their own life and it’s never to late to amaze yourself! Whether it means always doing things right, or having to get back on track a time or three. Make it count, make ‘em know about you! Regardless of what anyone wants you to be, you can be all that you want and are willing to be.
Be who you were destined to be. ~Bird
